In the Garden (CA Miles 1912) performed by John Prine (1946) and Mac Wiseman (RIP 1925-2019). This is my favorite version of one of my favorite hymns. I think Prine (yes, one of my favorite singer/songwriters) and Wiseman provide the outdoorsy simplicity and natural spiritual emotion I hear in his song. In Prine's music as a whole one hears his concern with social justice and religious honesty, set amidst poetic lyrics and song writing. Prine brings a direct mood to his music that often mixes melancholy with humor. In my view many of his songs are more like paintings, telling a story of a specific time and place where upon timelessness and universality enter.
