In this land

Where winged spirits

Haunt the night

Flying in great circles

Moving out

cross the plains

Beyond touch

Day breaks

Animals return

To the shelter

Of earth and home

Where even deeper

Memories abide

On ancient shores

With old mountains

Mesas like old men

Stooped and crooked

Low across the land

While terrible winds

Bring heat waves lapping

Across torn smiling faces

With thunder clouds rising

Over distance and time

Bearing testament

Across the years

Of all the centuries
